So who is it writing about all this stuff? I’m Emma, a twenty something first time mummy to our little Oat, and recently returned to my job in Higher Education after maternity leave. My husband and I have been married for two years and lived in our country pad just a bit less. Life is busy and full on, with home renovations, travelling, and socialising. Of course 11 months ago life got even busier as Oat arrived on Christmas Eve 2015. She’s changed our lives obviously, but for the main part we just keep doing what we love and she comes along to make it even lovelier!

Food is pretty much the centre of our lives…! Holidays are planned around where we’ll eat, parties have food as their centre piece, the Christmas Dinner is what Christmas is about, and our wedding was all about the food (a delectable and juicy hog roast!).

To counteract the calorie intact my husband and I try to keep active, but these days that’s easier said than done! We ski and snowboard, swim and play squash. Mostly though a walk in the countryside or on the beaches that grace our doorstep is enough to blow away the cobwebs.

But that’s just stuff…really though I’m just a bit boring, with a vivid and creative imagination, but lacking the ability to transfer that to reality (to the point I’m dangerous with a paint brush). On a day to day basis I look like I’ve been dragged through a hedge backwards. I haven’t had my hair cut in just coming up to a year, I have stopped wearing make up because I left my makeup bag at the gym and no one handed it in, and I love the winter because it’s a darn good excuse not to shave my legs!

I’m a working mummy, struggling with the concept that you can have it all, and desperately looking for the balance of family and work life to fall in to place. Here’s to hoping the world of blogging can help!
